In the vibrant tech arena of the IFA event in Berlin, Lenovo unveiled its latest creation – the Legion Go, a portable gaming console that aims to challenge the dominance of both the Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch.

A Versatile Console

At the heart of the IFA tech show, we got our hands on an already advanced and fully operational prototype of the Legion Go. This powerhouse is essentially a hefty handheld PC console running on Windows 11, much like its ASUS counterpart, the ROG Ally.

Upon activation, it transforms into a bona fide PC environment, where you can access your games from various stores, including Steam, the Xbox Game Pass, and the Xbox space for Windows PC games. It also boasts the Legion Space hub for managing settings and game libraries.

In terms of physical design, the Legion Go adheres to the classic console format with controls on each side, including buttons, a directional pad, asymmetrical joysticks, triggers on top, sides, and the rear, along with a mouse wheel. Notably, all ten buttons are programmable. What sets it apart is the touchpad located on the right side of the screen, which can serve as a makeshift mouse. It’s quite substantial in size, so it’s worth noting that it’s not ideal for those with petite hands.

The display is arguably one of the largest on the market, boasting an 8.8-inch QHD+ LCD screen that offers excellent quality, vibrant colors, and impressive graphics. Furthermore, it boasts a 144Hz refresh rate, surpassing competitors that typically peak at 120Hz (or even just 60Hz for the Steam Deck). Internally, the Legion Go packs an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, mirroring the potency of the ROG Ally, along with 12GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB of storage, depending on the configuration. An added microSD card slot allows for up to 2TB of additional storage.

The Lenovo console positions itself as a formidable contender on paper. We tested it with two games, Hot Wheels and PowerWash Simulator, to assess its capabilities. The handheld experience, with hands gripping each handle and fingers resting comfortably on the buttons and triggers, proved smooth and responsive. It displayed no noticeable latency or screen freezes. The Hall effect joysticks, both precise and sensitive, promised an absence of drift or dead zones.

Oversized Screen and Hefty Weight

Despite its imposing dimensions, the Legion Go remains manageable for gaming sessions. However, its relatively high weight (854g for the entire console) may become burdensome over extended periods. In such cases, you can utilize the stand at the back of the console, similar to the Nintendo Switch OLED, and detach the controllers. One noteworthy feature of the Legion Go, distinguishing it from other portable PC consoles, is the Joy-Con-like ability to detach the controllers. They slide downward, which might not be the most convenient design, but in practice, it works well, and you soon forget about the console’s thickness while playing.

Nonetheless, the Legion Go is more than just a powerful mini-PC. It can also be used with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The touchscreen can be operated with your fingers, or you can switch the console to full PC mode, with the right part serving as a highly responsive mouse for precise control and action validation.

Lenovo has thought of everything – inside the storage case, there’s a magnetic stand. Insert the right controller and switch the toggle underneath, and you’ll have a highly responsive mouse at your disposal. This proves useful for both Windows 11 productivity tasks and gaming. The cursor, labeled “FPS,” appears to be tailored for shooter games, offering enhanced control with an additional keyboard and a fresh-looking mouse.

Available in November

Our initial encounter with the Legion Go shows promise. The generous screen size is a boon for gamers, but the console’s weight may potentially become a downside. However, Lenovo addresses this with a rapid charging feature, promising 70% battery replenishment in just 30 minutes. Though Lenovo hasn’t specified the exact duration of gameplay on a single charge, the Legion Go comes equipped with two USB-C ports – one at the top and one at the bottom of the screen. This enables simultaneous charging while connecting to an external display for an expansive gaming experience.

Incorporating the customary features of portable PC consoles, the Legion Go doesn’t settle for the bare minimum. It offers Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and supports Bluetooth 5.2.

The Lenovo Legion Go is set to hit the market in November 2023, with prices starting at €799.

When DJI founder Frank Wang was starting out, he had one simple goal in mind. He wanted to make a drone that would allow people to capture high-quality aerial footage without the hassle and expense of purchasing a professional-grade camera.

He knew that he needed to build a company around his idea and he decided to do so in Shenzhen, China. There he had access to a wealth of engineering talent and manufacturing expertise, which he could utilize to create drone hardware that was better than anything else out there.

DJI quickly climbed to the top of the drone market

Winning over customers with their patented gimbal technology and superior flight controls. Their success was built on a simple concept: they were building the best drones in the world at prices that other companies just couldn’t match.

The first drone to really take off in the consumer space was the DJI Phantom, which blew the doors off of competing products with its innovative features and performance. It was also designed to be easy to use, a big advantage over earlier models that required complicated user interfaces.

In the years since, DJI has been focusing on making products that appeal to a much larger audience. They’ve launched a range of drones that cater to different types of users, from casual hobbyists who want to take their own pictures with a drone to pros who need to capture aerial data.

They’ve also invested a lot of money in their own camera technology and gimbal systems to ensure that they have the best cameras on the market. In 2017, they even launched flying glasses, a product that has the potential to transform the drone industry completely.

Their hardware and software are constantly being improved.

They’ve embraced the feedback they get from their customers and have been willing to implement changes quickly in response.

As a result of this constant improvement and commitment to customer service, DJI is the market leader in terms of sales volume and customer satisfaction. Their software is also extremely well-designed and they are always updating their firmware to address any issues that may arise.

While they’re dominating the market, there are other players who have stepped in to challenge their leadership. There are several companies that have recently entered the drone space, bringing with them their own unique sets of skills and business plans.

One company that has come to compete with DJI is Mota, a Chinese startup that started selling drones for $80 and $130 in 2016. The company is trying to become a household name by focusing on its core product line.

Another contender is Parrot, a French firm that has also made drones for the enterprise market. It has a similar AI platform to DJI and is looking to take some of their business from them with the release of its Anafi USA, which is a 500-gram drone that will be aimed at first responders.

HMD presented a surprising smartphone, the Nokia 9 Pure View, which is distinguished not by three or four, but by five photo sensors! These positioning target photographers.

From the front, the Nokia 9 Pure View is a beautiful smartphone. Equipped with an 845 Snapdragon chip with 6GB of RAM and a 5.9-inch OLED display with QHD+ definition (2960 x 1440 pixels), it features the main advantages of a high-end smartphone. Its fingerprint sensor under the screen falls well under the finger, and its 4150 mAh battery gives it a good autonomy. But when you turn it over, the beast reveals itself.

The particularity of the Nokia 9 Pure View is that it has five photosensors on board, including two RGB sensors and three achromatic sensors whose primary function is to capture as much light as possible. The five sensors offer a maximum resolution of 12 million pixels and an aperture of f/1.8. The optics were made in partnership with Zeiss, but we have little information.

Combining these five sensors would capture ten times more light and much more detail. Indeed, if the two RGB modules deal with the colorimetry of the image, the three monochrome sensors are responsible for recovering information on the level of hue, definition, and light.

By combining the whole, it is possible to obtain images ranging from 60 million to 240 million pixels. This huge definition implies the presence of a second processor developed by Light. Yes, we are talking about the company behind the L16, this half-smartphone, half-device camera body composed of 16 camera modules and having just signed a partnership with Sony.

As a result, there is a better understanding of the distribution of sensors and their role. The goal of the Nokia 9 Pure View is to provide maximum image quality through computational photography in a minimal footprint. The advantage of this technology is to be able to increase image dynamics, low sensitivity light management, and detail rendering.

It is also possible to manage the depth of field retrospectively all the more readily as these five sensors are also supported by a sixth ToF (Time Of Flight) sensor which makes it possible to evaluate the distances between the different planes of a scene and thus to play with the depth.

Our opinion

Of course, the Nokia 9 Pure View allows you to capture RAW images, and the native integration of Adobe Lightroom CC’s mobile application will enable you to post-process this RAW generated by the different sensors. In short, the promise of the Nokia 9 Pure View is beautiful.

It is too early to judge, but a quick introduction reveals two things: the first is that shots taken in low light (at least in a living room atmosphere) showed a particularly surprising level of detail and noise management. The other point is that to get this shot in RAW, it took an absolutely infinite time (well over 10s) for the image to be readable. And meanwhile, the smartphone is blocked. We will see what will happen to the final models available to the general public.

The post Nokia 9 Pure View: 5 sensors for improved picture quality! first appeared on Clean Reader App.

From the day mankind invented the wheel, we have been constantly innovating, and we have come to point where we are on the verge of shifting to another planet and start spoiling it. From time to time the predominant population will think there is no way that something better than this could happen and someone comes up with an idea which creates a revolution. So no one can deny the fact technological innovations have always managed to exceed the expectations and surprise us. In this article, we will see some of the cool gadgets that are expected to be launched in 2019.

Foldable TV

We are still in shock that a foldable phone is being launched, before overcoming that shock now comes the foldable TV. I really have no idea what is there with Korean companies and foldable things. It was Samsung that introduced foldable phone now LG is introducing foldable TV. It is said more than a decade of research is involved in the development of the foldable TV.

Moving suitcase

Have you heard this quote “necessity is the mother of all invention” well I’d like to differ. It is not necessity “laziness is the mother of all invention.” Just like a Tesla, it has self-drive technology that can also be shifted to manual. It has GPS tracker, charging port and is filled with a lot of features. Ovis is the company that designed and manufactured this suitcase.

Smart toilet

One of the world-renowned sanitary ware manufacturers Kohler has come with amazing (weird) innovation. In the beginning, when smartphones flooded the market, most of us were so astonished that a mobile phone can do so much. But this is a very different league. No man in his wildest dreams would have thought that toilets can become smart. Guess what? It is loaded with a lot of features that include sound speakers, ambient mood lightening, and the best part is that you can pair your Alexa with it. Kohler just made nature call a blissful experience.

Smart Clock

After the weird one comes the acceptable one. If we were speaking to a TV or a small speaker ten years back, the world would have thought that we were abnormal. But now interacting with gadgets is a normal thing that you can see in every house household. One thing is for sure; if a toilet can become smart, a clock can become smart by all means. The Lenovo Smart Clock is a stunning piece of beauty. Some might think what is so smart about this. It tells time which is mandatory for a clock. You can pair it with Google Assistant and make it work with voice commands. It shows temperature, you can charge your phone with it and the display adjusts itself according to the time of the day. For a clock, things can’t get better than this.

The post Cool Gadgets Expected to be Launched in 2019 first appeared on Clean Reader App.
